New home sales fell 3.5% in October but were still fifth highest on record
Sales of new homes fell 3.5% in October to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.105 million units but were still the fifth highest on record. So far this year, 931,000 new homes have been sold, 12.2% more than during the same period last year.

U. of Michigan consumer sentiment index inched upward to 18-month high this month
The final reading of the U. of Michigan consumer sentiment index showed an improvement to 93.7 in November--the highest level since May 2002--from October's 89.6...and this month's preliminary reading of 93.5. Economists had expected an increase to about 93.9.
